About Us
The Blue Line Ranch is owned by Bert and Angela Gates and is
located in Grovetown Georgia and in Avera (pronounced Avery) Georgia. Grovetown is located just minutes from both
Augusta and Evans and Avera is located 45 miles outside of Augusta toward
Statesboro, GA. The Grovetown Farm is for sale while the Avera Facility is
built. Angela has been involved in horses since the age of 10
when she began riding lessons at a local stable. Angela has worked as a
riding instructor as well as working in the field of Law Enforcement. Bert
has had a passion for horses that dates back to his early childhood when he
would ride horses with a neighbor lady who taught him all about horses (Thank
You
Miss Geneva) and Bert has an extensive background in the law enforcement field
as well. Bert and Angela currently have downsized their herd
from 13 to 8 horses living on their
ranch and they enjoy teaching others about horses and spreading the equine bug to all
they can. Angela and Bert were married on November 5, 2005 and merged
their family. They have 5 children whom they love dearly. Andrew,
Greg, Heather, Brooke, and Tyler. Bert is currently attending the John
Lyons Certification Program in Parachute Colorado and is scheduled to graduate
in November 2008 and will begin training in December 2008!
The Horses
It all began with a lovely leopard appaloosa mare that caught
Bert's eye in 2003 her name at the time was "Pretty Girl". She is but yuck
at that name she is now the Dutch Bunny. Then came along Duke (Registered with AQHA as
Formulate) a big sorrel fellow that Bert bought for Angela while they were still
dating in 2004. Then came King AKA Ima Major King APHA in 2005.
Angela and Bert fell in love with the Roan Quarter Horses when they saw Blue (Boober) AKA
Silvers Blue Print in 2005. Blue joined the household and is a Blue Roan
Skipper W bred stallion that will be standing at stud in 2009 after he learns
his job as a riding and using horse. In 2006 Fred and Kathy Heistand of
Trenton SC from whom they had purchased Blue came up with another good colt in
Peppy AKA Sol Ansons Peppy. Peppy is a Bay Roan stud colt by a
reining champion from Texas out of a Blue Roan Ranch mare. Peppy will be
the reiner in the family. Peppy will join Blue in the Breeding Shed in
2010. River of Tears and Rips Bluebonnet became the foundation mares in
2007 while Sophie, a lovely gray TB mare that fell on the track and sustained
leg injuries, is rehabbing and will join the broodmare band in 2009 hopefuly.
Company Future
The Blue Line Ranch Hopes to breed good using quarter horses with
color as well as ability. We hope to share our love of good horses and
ponies with as many kids and adults as we can.
